She completed her undergraduate studies at the State University of Maranhao and pursued her Master's degree at the Federal University of Brasilia, in Brazil. Additionally, Erika furthered her expertise with a post-graduate course in pathologies in concrete infrastructure at the IPOG (Institute of Graduation and Post Graduation).

She served as a Civil Engineering teacher at IESPLAN (Institute of Higher Education of Planalto) and UniCEUB (Brasilia University Center) in the Brazil Federal District, where she imparted her knowledge and mentored aspiring engineers.
